I recently visited the Thermae Sylla Spa Wellness Hotel in Edipsos, Evia, on the occasion of the first anniversary of Travel Bloggers Greece. You can find the article about our celebration weekend and the hotel (family) facilities here. In this article I described that Thermae Sylla Spa Wellness Hotel has been classified among the 10 best spa’s in the world. Thermae Sylla Spa is not just a hotel with spa facilities, but actually, a spa with a hotel. Let me here further explain to you why.
‘Step into nature’s spa’(slogan from the Thermae Sylla Spa website)
The Thermae Sylla Spa uses two springs of the world famous Edipsos thermal water mineral springs. These springs have a temperature of 70°C – 84°C and 40°C – 50 °C. They are rich in valuable minerals and microelements. The list of their therapeutic indications is very long; besides beauty and rejuvenation, they are also used in the treatment of chronic rheumatism, arthritis, neuritis, several gynecological problems and more.

The hot thermal water in front of Thermae Sylla
The Thermae Sylla Spa has 2 large pools. The interior pool with thermal water of a constant 32º C. The outdoor pool with mixed water, 50% thermal water and 50 % seawater, at a constant 28-30º C temperature. The outdoor pool is being emptied each night to be cleaned! Both pools are equipped with hydro- massages, jacuzzis, wild water streams, air bubbles, high jets and whirlpools. Around the pools are lounge chairs for relaxation.

Inside the spa are two levels. On the ground floor are several beautiful decorated rooms for specific spa treatments such as the Farmer’s Steambath, the Thermal Grotta and the Oriental Rasul.
Details from the Oriental Rasul where different kinds of mud and chalk are being used with herbal steam and a warm rain falling from the ceiling
On the second floor there are more beauty and revitalizing treatment rooms as well as a whole separate section dedicated to medical treatments. The list of the spa’s therapeutic and beauty treatments, massages and yoga lessons is impressively long. (Check out the Thermae Sylla Spa Wellness Hotel website)
I am dreaming away in the magical warm thermal water of the indoor pool
The spa provides for slippers, a swimming hat, robes and towels. All these were comfortable and luxurious. Before using the spa, everyone fills out a medical form and visits the on-site doctor. I suffer from a skin condition called psoriasis. The doctor was efficient and skilled; he told me in a few minutes exactly which treatments to use or to avoid during my weekend and how to treat my skin afterwards. I was very pleased with his very professional advice.

How would I describe my experience at Thermae Sylla Spa? I felt that all my senses were stimulated and that is exactly what I expected beforehand.
There was relaxing music playing at the spa reception. Smells of candles and beauty products were everywhere. Inside the pool area there was the sound of water and some whispering of the other spa visitors (children starting from 15 years old can use the interior pool. The outside pool can be used by all ages). Every few minutes a big waterfall in the middle of the pool would invite the swimmers to enjoy a massage. The warm water of the pool was very soothing and tickling my face. The warm outside pool made a welcoming contrast with the cold weather outside.
Inside Sylla’s cave and The eucalyptus tree inside the Farmers Steambath
Following the professional advice of the friendly staff at the reception, I decided to follow the Farmers Steambath and Thermal Grotta saunas treatment. The smell of the freshly cut eucalyptus tree inside was amazing. The benefit of breathing in the eucalyptus steam is a deep cleansing for the skin, it helps at fat loss and helps you breath more easily. The Grotta on the other hand, improves breathing and detoxifies by inhaling the beneficial minerals.
In between my sauna sessions I enjoyed lovely tea provided by the spa en I relaxed in a quiet area on the second floor overlooking the outside pool and gardens. There was plenty of daylight coming in through the sunroof. When it got dark in the afternoon, the lights inside the swimming pools created a magical atmosphere.
After the spa my hair and skin felt amazingly soft and smooth. I looked and felt relaxed. Besides an overall feeling of wellbeing, something else happened. The psoriasis cracks and lesions on my face had disappeared! I have never had such fast results from any other therapy. I felt that I had been rejuvenated inside. I cannot wait to go back soon to these magical waters.
I brought some of the magic home. The Thermae Sylla Spa created a complete line of organic skin care products based on the beneficial properties of the thermal water. Products can be purchased at the hotel, at some pharmacies in Greece and via the Thermae Sylla e-shop
I was an invited guest of Thermae Sylla Spa and Wellness Hotel to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Travel Bloggers Greece. As always, all opinions remain my own.
